Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on students' learning outcomes in class X of Science at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental experimental design, namely Non-equivalent Control Group Design, which involves two groups of students: an experimental class that is given PjBL treatment and a control class that uses conventional learning. Data were collected through pretest and posttest for both groups, then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The pretest results showed no significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Still, after the treatment, the post-test results showed a greater improvement in the experimental class, with an average score of 77.4 compared to the control class, which reached only 75. The hypothesis test with the t-test yielded a tcount of 3.6068 which is larger than the ttable of 1.679, which means that there is a significant influence of PjBL on student learning outcomes. This study concludes that PjBL can significantly improve student learning outcomes, especially in improving concept understanding and critical thinking skills. Therefore, applying PjBL to biology learning in high school is recommended, especially on materials that require the active involvement of students in the learning process.
